The Zune dock is not necessary to enjoy your Zune, but it does come in handy. If you don't like your Zune on the floor to get stepped on, or table to accidentally get flung off and dropped to its violent and utter crash to the ground. Then you might want to consider being way more careful with it... or get this dock. The Zune Dock is meant to hold your Zune in place on a table or wherever you choose to have a nice sturdy base.
Looks
The dock itself looks pleasing to the eye with its clear matte finish around the side and a nice... I'm going to call it dark chrome finish on top.
It has the Zune logo printed right on top along with a port for the Zune itself with it's proprietary connection inside. While it does have another port for the Zune Wireless Remote... sadly it is not included with just the Zune Dock. Under the Zune Dock is a nice rubber bottom to hopefully keep your dock or even your Zune from falling with a push or tap.
Performance
The Zune Dock does have a really nice array of features for such and ordinary accessory. Right in front of the Zune Dock is a little infrared port under the matte plastic allowing you to use the Zune Wireless Remote.
On the back is a port for a sync cable to be connected straight to the dock. Also there is a port for av cables to be plugged in straight into the dock.
Features
The Zune Dock has an insert built into it. Right behind the remote port is a little button that when pressed in and lifted up removes the insert for the Zune. This is meant to be re-fitted with a newer Zune model once they come out. (NEW INSERTS MAY BE SOLD SEPARATE IN THE FUTURE)
Overall
The Zune Dock is a nice thing to go along with the purchase of the Zune.
Not only for propping up your Zune when syncing or charging, but for wirelessly connecting your zune with the wireless remote. Also the AV port is a nice addition that i never really expected to even see on the back once i got it.
Pros: nice design, beautiful finish, remote support, av port built in, durable, future proof
Cons: gets dusty if not cleaned off, attracts large amounts of finger prints on the dark chrome finish, remote port is loose with inserted remote
PS:Remember it needs to be...
