I'm way too confused. There's a TON of posts about putting dvd onto Zune...but everything talks about downloading software that is supposed to be free but either is NOT free ...OR they have annoying watermarks OR they only convert like 10 minutes of the dvd until you buy the software or you just end up with a virus.

It is all making me very VERY unhappy!!! Sad

Doesn't Zune come with a converter for this kind of thing? Or do you really need to buy third party software?? This is becoming such a headache.... Is there no hope? I just wanted to watch my dvds that I already bought ...that are MINE ... but would have liked to watch while I was away from home.... isn't that part of the whole point to have a portable media player like zune in the first place?? Did I get suckered? Sad Or did I misunderstand and waste a LOT of money?

Am I even in the right forum??

I'm so confused....

Please forgive me ...I'm just frustrated and upset with this very expensive zune that I thought would make things easier... Sad

to get a dvd on your computer in anyway... you need a decrypter to get the css key off then you can do what you want with it...

Converting DVD can be annoying and it can some time just be easer to download them by P2P (If you have the DVD of the movie I don't consider it illegal) but if you want to know how and all for free down load the PDF for the Maximum PC May 2007 and look at page 18 and you should find all you need.

Great magnetize by the way.

well I guess I am way more stupid at this than I thought .... I'm trying to watch a dvd on my pc but now my media player says it's needing plug ins or something so I can't even get it to play on the computer and it IS a dvd rom drive so I just don't understand. I guess I need to convert it just to watch it too ...not even talking about trying to get it to zune ....it's a big headache. So I will go try to read your pdf file at that magazine.... thanks. I appreciate it. I'm still very confused though. Sad

To just watch a DVD on your PC install a codec pack and you should be able to watch your DVDs.

Ok. See I have the second season of LOST. So it's not a regular dvd movie I guess. Cuz according to that pdf file ...it's a tv show dvd which is set up differently. Either way it should work on my pc. But it's not. This is the first time I have tried to use this pc (brand new) to watch a dvd. Only reason I am even doing it is to put it on the zune. I put the dvd in ...then media player 11 comes up and says it can't play it cuz it doesn't have media rights or some chit. Now I am way confused and I'm getting very extremely upset cuz it shouldn't be this hard to watch a dvd when all that kind of money is spent. Are there instructions I am missing? How do I know which codecs to download. I feel totally and completely like an full blown moron. An idiot who cannot even get a dvd to work on a pc. It's windows xp ....I was told that would be better to understand than vista. Why do I feel I was just suckered into spending more money than I needed to. this is all so frustrating!!!

I can't download those codecs cuz they cost money and thanks to this new zune I am absolutely broke. Otherwise I would have bought conversion software to save me this headache. Sad But thanks for trying to help me!!! I really DO appreciate it! Smile

this is the error message I get when I try to play a dvd on my pc:

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.
