I found out that, apparently I'm not running a legit copy of windows, despite having a guy who works at Microsoft fix my computer.

Hate to press any further, but would someone be willing contact microsoft for me to at least find out the issue, or find out what I need to do to fix this. I mean, it should only take a .dll or some sort of missing component, right?

Well, that's the end of that. I can't do anything for you. All of the DLLs are there, but it runs tests to see if your copy is genuine, using the WGA. You'll have to buy a product key.

I hate it when people jip you like that. One of my friends suffered the same thing. Luckily, purchasing a license is a piece of cake.

Hate to bug you, but one more quick question.

How much is it to buy a key, and how do you go about doing it?

Is it just a registration code, or would I be buying a whole new copy of XP?

I dont know about buying a key but are you familiar with torrents? if so head over to demonoid and look for xp professional student version. it comes with a multi user key, originally designed for academic places that teach windows installations to students right through to updating the new installation. it was what i was running til i found the OEM version of Vista ultimate SP1 3 weeks ago. if you are familiar with downloading thru torrents and know where to look And know how to put a operating system in ( back up files you want to keep, burn OS to disc, reboot and run) then you should be fine. if you need any pointers or help, let me know in a pm stating precisely where you are stuck and i'll see what i can do Smile

You gotta PM a link to that fool. I'll rock it until I get a legit copy of Windows 7.

NVM. I found a place where I can buy it pretty cheap.
I was thinking BitTorrent when I read your post.
