So you want to join the millions of people who download from the internet via BitTorrent files? This thread will guide you through the basics of how to set your computer to download torrents, and where to find an infinite amount of torrents.

Download & Install a torrent program
There are tons of good torrent programs, and it seems like everybody has an opinion on which one is best. Ill just post a few and you can decide which you like best.

µTorrent http://www.utorrent.com/
Very small and efficient torrent download manager that is one of the most popular due mainly because it has many advanced features and doesn't use much memory.

BitComet http://www.bitcomet.com/
Another popular torrent download manager, takes up slightly more hard drive space but offers all the features you would need in a torrent program.

Azureus http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
Java based Torrent download manager that is extremely lightweight and even features a IRC chat program built in for torrent support.

BitTorrent http://www.bittorrent.com/download
Developed by the same team that invented the torrent protocol, but uses alot of memory compared to the other torrent programs.

Get the torrent files
There are tons of sites that offer a plethora of free torrent files for music, programs, movies, tv shows. You name it, and you can find it on the torrent network. Here are some of the most popular torrent search engines.

Scrape Torrent http://scrapetorrent.com/Search/
Scrape Torrent offers an advanced search engine that searches many of the most popular torrent websites. Just search for what it is that you want to download and hit search.

Mininova http://www.mininova.org/

Torrent Spy http://www.torrentspy.com/

ISO HUNT http://www.isohunt.com/

Download the Torrents
Open your .torrent files with the torrent program that you downloaded and installed earlier and let it download. Be patient, it can take a few minutes for the torrent to pick up seeders and download speeds to increase. Also, if you are downloading bigger files such as movies, tv shows, computer games or computer applications it may take a while for the download to finish because of the size of the download.

For the purposes of this guide, I am assuming that you are using the torrent network to download backups of files you already own, or to download content that would otherwise be free.

I locked a post that was asking for specific links to copyrighted material (music, movies, ect..) The torrent network can be used for legal purposes such as freeware distribution, and backup copies of files.
