thats what i was thinkin.. so why buy the newer model and risk the chance of fuckin it up when yo ucould buy the original for much cheaper and make the hardrive as big as you want??

You can try it on the 80gb model, but no way of telling if it'll work or not. Though the 30 gb worked out just fine with upgrading the hard drive. I guess, follow this guide for taking it apart, and reposition the pads on the current hard drive on the hard drive you're putting it. This would be an interesting thing to test out actually.
