I've got a Zune 30, that has been working fine for awhile. however, it recently has failed. Whenever it is unhooked from either a connection cable or home dock, it immediately shuts off, and the zune screen, the one with just the zune logo, flashes. What can I do to fix it? I've got another zune 30, that I dropped and broke the screen on, that I oan rob parts from

What part of the world are you from? if you live in the States then just send it to them if you havent tampered with it already, if you dont live over there then we may be able to assist. Has it updated properly up to now? is it running v.2.5?

I'm in the states, but I've already torn into it. I'd been running 2.5 for awhile, with good luck, but now, this

Looking at the video, it looks like the equivalent of when a pc has a corrupted boot log file. It appears to be unable to find the OS but the "bios" zunescreen seems to load. i havent encountered this before. i think that formatting it would fix it, as you cant format it normally then i suggest using the zune hack guide ( the one that allows you to use it a a HDD) and format it when it shows up i windows explorer. This is just a theory and i dont guarantee it will work at all, but it may help. If one of the more experienced mods has an idea then go for it

If I have it connected to the computer, I can format it in the normal sence (back, left, center), and I've tried that several times, with no luck. I just tried to to the HDD mod, but it gave me no option to format it, Would my having Vista do anything to affect that?

Okay, an update, I got adverterous and tore into it again. Without a HDD hooked up, it goes to the zune screen. I tried it on both zunes I have (both broken, and both exhibiting the same sypmtoms. Would replacing the motherboard fix it?

You could probably get a second hand one cheaper than that, but then you need to ask yourself why its second hand
