My headphones work fine on my Zune 30. I wanted to play the sound through my aplififed PC speaker system the other day at home and so connected a 3.5mm jack into both the inpout of the amplifier and the zune but could get no sound.

I changed the lead and when pushing the jack into the Zune part of the way could get a very weak sound which soon stopped.

If my headphones are fine why can I not connect this up?

Have you tried turning your Zune's volume up all of the way? The volume is relatively weak until you reach the 16-20 range.

Well turning the Zune up to 18 did allow me to get playback although the 3.5mm jack was extremley tempremental to say the least - not sure why when the headphones have no bother but the jack to the stereo required being left partially out and wiggling before being gently laid down to play.

BUT the sound quality and volume was terrible. I had to jack thew bass up on the speakers to maximum to get any depth and the volume pumped pretty high too. The overall sound quality was pretty poor, comparable to a built in speaker playing music on a device or mobile phone or such.

Is there ways of improving this, surely the zune docks and setups provide better than this - but I would not see why they would as an acceptable audio connection is just that?
