ok so a rootbeer float got spilled in my car and went all over my zune, killed the battery for sure and i thought it fried the hd, the screen still came on and and it tried accessing the hd to boot up but restarted as soon as it tried, if i unplugged the hd the zune would just sit at the load screen. so i got a new hd and battery got them in and it does the same thing with resetting as soon as it tried to boot. i should also mention that my mom dropped the new harddrive but it was only about a foot and a half drop. should i try another new hd or is my mainboard toast? Thanks in advance.

I'd go with the mainboard first.

ok time for an update, i got home from work and had some more time to mess with it, now i noticed i can hear the hd spin up then a pretty loud click as it shuts off and trys to reboot, i'm assuming that means the hds a gonner from the drop right? but i still don't know about my mainboard. right now i'm working on it without a battery so when i plug it into my computer it pops up the zune screen then clicks and dies, but if i hold back+left+center it pops up screen 3 - Please wait-. then goes to screen 4 - clearing contents please wait - since i'm plugging it into my comp for power it skips screen 1 & 2, does this mean my mainboard might be fine? thanks for the speedy response Branhower.

Those hard drives are pretty fragile. I'd make your mom pay for a new one Cool .

The mainboard actually sounds fine.
