I have been noticing more and more of my songs skipping lately. All my content comes straight from the marketplace, so I don't think its a bad version of the song. I guess its possible the song was bad when I got it, otherwise it might be the Zune.

I tend to think that it might be the Zune, because some songs seem to play fine at times, and not so fine at other times.

Has anyone noticed anything like this?

A lot of people are complaining about this. I believe I read somewhere that you have to have your backlight on all the time to make it so your songs don't skip. Sounds silly, yes...but I've heard it works. Also, if you are overloading your Zune (filling it up close to the max), I also heard that's another reason why this happens.

So try putting your backlight so it's on all the time and see if that fixes it for you.

I just turned it to always on - we'll see how the afternoon goes.

Funny enough, when I just had a song skip - I started it over right away (which would turn the backlight on) and then the second time though, no skipping...

I changed the display option from always on to one of the lower settings (15 secs) and the skipping hasn't come back. I think when it was on the 30 secs / 1 minute one is when I ran into it most.

Always on is fine, but for a portable device you may only get a few hours battery life and thats it, and that kind of defeats the purpose.
