...and keeps on tickin'! had an interesting day today and in particular one event that really made me fall in love with my Zune30 all over again.
<True Story>
i was riding over to my friends house on my Honda CT90K0 (motorcycle) and was almost there, about 100 yards away. as i am approaching the last turn on to his street, i switch on my turn signal (about 30yards from the turn), down shift, brake, start to turn left on to his street when i am clipped by a blond in a Infinity SUV. she sees me slow down and "assumes" that i am turning right even though i had my blinker on; crosses the solid double yellow line and tries to pass me. i go sliding across the pavement one way, my bike the other; and get up in disbelief. needless to say i was kinda mad as i had just restored this bike (it is a 1968 with all original hardware). to my relief she was more than apologetic and willing to give me her information and make sure i was ok. i got her information, made sure i was ok (and thankfully i am, just sore) and walked over to my bike. it actually looked pretty good, the left side foot stand was broken off (i gathered the parts), the rear left turn signal and left hand brake were bent. i stood my bike up and it started on the first kick and finished the ride to my friends house.
when i got there i started to give myself a more detailed inspection. it was then that i realized that i had my zune clipped to my pocket on my left side. i gingerly removed it from my pocket and looked at the outside of my DIO leather flip cover case. it was a bit chewed up and i was afraid of what i might find inside. i lifted the lid and pressed a button and my zune woke up and worked fine. i removed it from the case and there was not a scratch or deformity to be found despite me landing directly on top of it.
i have always loved my zune and have found it to be a incredible device.
now i have a new respect for it, it can withstand road rash and a direct impact from a 180lb computer geek. basically, i have fallen in love all over again!

I've moved on, and its more than just pronunciation...
...and this story has more to do with the strength and resilience of the leather case ur zune was in, rather than the zune's strength. altho granted that did play its part, but then any other 30gb mp3 player would have given similar results, given those situations. _________________

it seems to me that someone needs to let the little things go. in Birmingham you might call it an indicator however here in the US we call it a blinker, winker, flasher, "turn signal", or whatever the hell we want.
like i said before, its time to move on...you don't own rights or privileges to someone else's speech.
======
plus this thread is not about the differences between the English and the United States of America. it is about how i was able to get in an accident on my motorcycle, land on my zune and have it survive. now you are right to a degree the case did help it not get scratched to hell but i did practically sit on the thing with some force. i think that is worth some mention as most mp3 players would have been obliterated if someone were to fall on it especially in an accident. |

never said i did, i also never said that u shouldn't call it wat u want, but it dose seem 'odd' that u use less complex and less descriptive words for things compared with people in the UK. also im not from Birmingham, im from a place called stoke, which is in Stafford, which isn't close to Birmingham. Birmingham is just a place that i currently live in, and becasue i was properly educated i don't have a regional accent/dialect.
also i know i brought it up and then put it back on topic it wasn't me that picked it up again...and my point about it being thanks to the case is still the only 'on topic' post there has been in this topic... _________________

So are you saying that we are not educated?
Last time I checked, it is not becasue(check the quote). It is because. Next time you say something about education. Make sure you can spell what your trying to say. |

im using the spell checker in FF3B1 so if my spelling is off its becasue of that. and no...actually what im saying is that people, who go to state school in the UK general have an accent traditional with that area. like hue grant has a London accent, not everyone in the UK speaks like that, only some people in London. and just like with accent people in area's have different words for things compared to other places, for example...
in stoke a common phrase would be 'tra-a bit' which means goodbye. I don't use words like those because i educated properly, and taught how to speak properly....
and spelling has nothing to do with education when u suffer as badly as i do with dyslexia. _________________
