Car Cradle Solution

I don't know if this is the correct forum for this but I do own a Zune 2.

Has anyone tried to take a Zune Homa AV Kit (version 2) and a car lighter usb power adapter and connect the rca outputs to your car stereo? I think this would give me the same solution as the soon to be released IME dock, without the factory controls, for half of the money.

My Volkswagen's factory stereo doesn't have RCA inputs, so I have to buy an adapter. You might not need this.

This solution would cost me ~$170 after shipping compared to $350 for the IME Dock. Has anyone done a setup like this?

I can't believe some of the prices you see for such a simple thing one can do on their own. Good job cutting the cost down.

In my situation, I have a stereo with RCAs and several channel controls (CD, Satellite, AUX), I just bought a Y-cable (RCA-R & RCA-L channels to headphone jack) and made the connection. I then drilled out a hole in my stereo kit tray and BAM! instant connection to my Stereo. I just select to channel AUX and can listen.

I made a custom holder for one of my DAPs (Sony Vaio Pocket) to mount on the center console. I am currently waiting for a custom injection mold my friend is making for me.
