Just wondering, I Vista worth the price? I'm thinking about upgrading, but I'd like some user opinions. _________________

im not sure. im using vista right now, but only for study tho. so idk its performance on gaming. but the system feels alot better than XP, feel more "advanced".
but if you are not getting a new PC, why get a new one when the old one works? |

I've been quite a heavy Vista user since Beta 2 came out, and one thing that Vista is pretty amazing at is stability... I think Vista has crashed 2 maybe 3 times in about a year, and those crashed where all for decent enough reasons...
I'm not sure its worth the price, if your going for home premium then i would recommend you get it and get an OEM version, as its the cheapest...
and having used Vista for so long, going back to XP isn't a nice experience... and one of the best things about Vista is its most overlooked feature.. its search... its pretty damn good, compared to the joke that's XP search
I probably wouldn't recommend the £100 for Vista U, becasue its too much, and considering Windows 7 is around the corner, it maybe an idea to get Home premium and then balls to the walls when Windows 7 comes out with its fancy (but much needed) WinFS _________________

I had to upgrade to Vista on my desktop since it has DX10 hardware on it. It is byfar the most stable operating system I have ever ran. I have yet to experience a crash or bluescreen since Vista resolves those issues automatically. Plus UAC, while annoying, has saved me before. _________________

I'd have to agree with Bald on this one. It's got several things going for it that XP just doesn't compare too, the biggest being the search tool. It comes in pretty handy when you look for damn near anything.
As for gaming, it's actually pretty stable especially if you use the ReadyBoost to help with it. I know it might not sound exciting or useful, but the fact that it's able to increase performance between the CPU, hard drives, and disc drive makes a huge difference then playing without it. I've been using a 4 gig compact flash as my ReadyBoost for about a year now and couldn't imagine playing anything without it.
The only downside to Vista that I've found is normally with 16-bit programs and certain software mods. Nothing major if you don't use any of those things, but a pain when you need to. _________________
