Would I still be able to download music from the Zune Marketplace and send to my Zune after I have completed the HDD mod and how would I go about doing that? Could I save word, powerpoint, or even frontpage docs on it? I have never modded anything before but this sounded cool. _________________

Yeah you still download music just as you would without the mod. And you can put any kind of file you want on it, just drag it and drop it in the storage folder. Although your Zune wont be able to play it. Just an FYI if you hook your Zune up to another computer you will have to do the same mod on that computer to get your files off it. _________________

If I put music and vidoes on my Zune from my computer harddrive will the Zune read it the way it already does without the mods. _________________

That I don't know. If you put them in the proper folders and they are the right format then maybe. Haven't tried it myself. _________________

Yes, if you put all the files into their proper folders it should read in the software just like you used the software to sync them on. _________________

Is there a better HD mod for the zune?
having the PC detect it as a drive like most MP3 players?
The requirement that you have to have the ZSW running so you can manipulate the files really beats the purpose of getting a flash drive.
You dont want to go thru all the process of installing the ZSW on every PC you use. just to use your zune as a flash drive.
Hope someone comes up with a mod or a firmware update

i think that you only need to open the software if the files are drm protected _________________

No, the software needs to be open no matter what. Its because the Zune harddrive is locked unless the Zune software is open to unlock it. _________________
