|
|
Okay, I only gave this a cursory attempt before leaving the house this morning, but I couldn't get the wireless sync to work. My home setup is my desktop PC connected to a wireless router which in turn connects to my cable modem. I went into the Zune software, put in the encryption key setup on the router and the Zune software couldn't connect to it. Do I have to have a separate wireless access point setup on my PC to utilize this?
EDIT: Whoops, wrong forum... can you move it for me, please? |

I'll take a look at the options once I get home. I'll be getting the 80GB today at Circuit City instead of waiting until december for a personalized one.. (i wis hthe 80GB personalized was avaiblable today ) _________________

Thanks... and like I said, I didn't have much time to monkey with it this morning, but it seems like it should just sync through the router, but then I got thinking that the software itself would almost have to act as a server to sync with the Zune, so maybe I'd have to have an access point.
No clue, though. I'm just talking out my butt. |

I dug around a bit and found this on a review posted at PCWorld:
To set up a Zune for wireless syncing, you first select the appropriate wireless network using the PC you'll sync the Zune with. Enter the appropriate security key, and you should be good to go.
So I must be doing something wrong. The Zune software didn't even see my wireless network. |

Make sure the Zune software has full access to your network. Could be a firewall issue. _________________

Mine took a grand total of 45 seconds to set up, very simple and painless, and now I can leave my USB cord hooked between my dock and AC adapter. _________________

i cannot get the wireless sync to work at all, i keep getting error messages.
im using wep, my firewall allows the program, my device recognizes my network, but the zune software doesnt recognize the network.
my device says "cant connect to network" but it sees the network. |

Does the software see the network?
if so, then you are most likely entering the wrong WEP key, your WEP key can be found at (local) 192.168.1.1
if the software does not see the network, make sure your wireless settings are set to allow visibility and outside connections.
Let me know if that helps, if not try and provide as much info on the problem as possible. _________________

network name: darkness is spreading
network type: shared authentication using WEP key
i have the mac adress allowed on my router too. when i go to sync now from my device it says unable to connect to network, or not netowkr available. i am using a microsoft wireless base station router MN 700($20 brand new!) |

I can't get mine to connect to my computer
It finds the network.
Connects to it.
It gets an IP.
But then, it goes to connect to the computer, it doesn't allow it..
Windows Firewall maybe?
I'm gonna try again with out any protection, we'll see... _________________
